How to use an affirmation

  1. Read it slowly

    Read the words three times, out loud or in your head. Let each one land.

  2. Breathe with it

    Take a slow breath in, and on the out-breath say the affirmation again. Notice where you feel it in your body.

  3. Take it with you

    Write it on a sticky note, set it as your wallpaper or repeat it before a hard conversation.

  4. Come back tomorrow

    A new affirmation opens every day at midnight your time. A line a day slowly changes the way you talk to yourself.

What is an affirmation

An affirmation is a short, kind sentence in the first person and the present tense: I can, I choose, I am allowed. Said often, it becomes a small habit of attention - you start to notice the thoughts you repeat and pick the ones that support you.
